In my Creative Writing class we take about 20 minutes of each class day to silently read a book of our choice. We keep a log of the books we have read, the amount of pages we have read in a span of a week, and the dates in which our reading is due. Below I have created a list of books that I highly recommend. Hopefully at least one of the books listed below will catch your attention so that you will read it too!
Bossypants by Tina Frey
Bossypants is an autobiographical comedy book. Frey talks about funny events in her life, from being a child until being an adult. Talking about her daily life she entertains her readers and the book is very easy to read. She visualized her book with pictures from her life, mostly childhood, and sometimes sort of letters, which makes you feel comfortable reading and seeing yourself in her. |
Dorothy must die by Danielle Paige
This book is actually about the classic story about Dorothy from Kansas going to OZ by a tornado. This story though is about Amy from Kansas landing in OZ by a tornado. It's the same OZ Dorothy knows and this story is about Dorothy being queen in OZ, the problem is though that Dorothy is not a really good queen and messes OZ completely up. Now it's Amy's turn to fight Dorothy. It's absolutely one of my favorite books!! It's so relatable and so fun to read. |
